40 Days of Prayer: Day 2

Today is Epiphany, a Christian feast day celebrating the revelation of God the Son as a human being in Jesus Christ.  In Louisiana it begins King Cake Season, during which it is customary to bake round pastries filled with cinnamon, glazed white and coated in traditional carnival color sanding sugar.  The person who finds the tiny plastic baby hidded in a king cake buys the next king cake.  Many of these cakes will be consumed during the next few weeks, and many babies found.  Today, let's thank the Father for sending his Son into the world.  Let's praise the Son, the King of Kings, for humbling himself to become a helpless baby in order to live a human life and die on the cross for us.  And let's pray for missing babies -- flesh and blood victims of human trafficking -- to be found and restored.
