Why are we praying AND fasting today?

In a Lent 2009 message, Cardinal Jorge Bergoglio explained to the Archdiocese of Buenos Aires the significance of fasting.  As Pope Francis, he is asking us to pray and fast for peace on Saturday, September 7, 2013.  Click here to read his explanation from 2009, which is just as applicable today.
