Romero: 30 Years Later

March 24 marks the 30th anniversary of the assassination of San Salvador's Archbishop Oscar Romero at the hands of graduates of the School of the Americas. Perhaps today we could take some time to renew our commitment to closing SOA/WHINSEC. Go to the web site, http://www.soaw.org/ to learn more.

Maybe we could take some time to watch the film, Romero. Or, here' s a picture montage done by students for a Social Justice class. (E-mail subscribers, click here if you do not see a video link below):

Today, let's remember some of the words of Archbishop Romero:

Peace is not the product of terror or fear. Peace is not the silence of cemeteries. Peace is not the silent result of violent repression. Peace is the generous, tranquil contribution of all to the good of all. Peace is dynamism. Peace is generosity. It is right and it is duty.

Let the people say, "Amen."
